Lack of
confidence in your own ability is a real stumbling block for bodybuilding
progress. Its not about having confidence in the sense of your everyday life
although it shares some parallels. In our everyday life we know, generally, that
if we do this or that this will be the outcome. Of course we cannot be 100%
assured of this but we can come close to the mark in making such predictions.
In bodybuilding
it is not so easy. We often work ourselves into the frame of mind such as 'I
cannot gain muscle unless I take gear' or 'This months workouts are useless
because I haven't got my supplements.' These are very real concerns that many
starting out and many veterans of the iron game share and they limit us
dramatically.
I believe that
one part of my consistent gains in my early years in bodybuilding were due to
the fact that I have never had the thought such as 'I cannot grow without drugs
or supplements or that building muscle was hard'. Of course other factors are at
play, such as eating and training, but that mental attitude was a stepping
stone, a platform if you like to getting bigger because I did not set any limits
to how well I could progress. If you don't have confidence that you can grow
without this or that it transfers to everything you do. You don't eat as strict,
you don't put in the effort into the gym, don't have that same passion. After
all if you don't believe you can do it, it becomes the question of is it worth
it? Worth the time in the gym and the money on food. Even the hormone balance of
the body has been proven to be put into a negative state through wrong frame
of mind which directly influence the muscle building potential of your body.
Worry and stress makes the body produce catabolic hormones that eat away at your
hard earned muscle and makes gaining that much harder.
So many people I
have seen come into the gym, and I am sure you have seen your fair share, quit
after such a short period of time because they get into the notion that
bodybuilding is too expensive as you can only do it with drugs and loads of
supplements. Because many in the gym confirm that this is the case they either
go on the drug path or quit. If they were to look a little into themselves they
would see that there are other paths open to them and it starts of with being
confident that such paths will bring the results they desire.
LOOK. YOU CAN
GROW AND GROW DAMN BIG WITHOUT ANY SUPPLEMENTS OR GEAR OR ANY OTHER
PHARMACEUTICAL AIDS. IF YOU ARE BEING TOLD OTHERWISE THEN ASK YOURSELVES WHY-
ARE YOU READING AN ADVERT FOR SOMETHING OR AN ARTICLE PROMOTING SOMETHING? IS
THE PERSON SELLING ANYTHING TO YOU? IS THE PERSON TRYING TO PUT YOU DOWN TO MAKE
THEMSELVES FEEL BETTER?
BODYBUILDING
IS NOT MYSTICAL AND ANYONE WITH THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE CAN ACQUIRE GAINS THAT THE
TEXT BOOKS SAY YOU SIMPLY CANNOT GET DRUG FREE AND WHAT SOME BOOKS SAY YOU
CANNOT EVEN GAIN ON DRUGS. SO ARM YOURSELF WITH THE KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO GROW AND
THEN FOLLOW IT WITH CONFIDENCE THAT WHAT YOU ARE DOING PRODUCES THE GOODS. THEN
YOU WILL NOT BE LIMITING YOUR POTENTIAL SUCCESS BY LACK OF CONFIDENCE BECAUSE IF
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE YOU WILL BE CONFIDENT IN THE END RESULT. KNOWLEDGE
IS THE NEW GENETICS. IT IS NO LONGER WHO HAS THE BEST GENETICS BUT WHO HAS THE
MOST KNOWLEDGE.
Re-read that
statement and absorb it- you can grow without drugs and supplements. There are
methods to get massive rapidly, muscle does not have to grow slowly as we have
found out, so don't give up.
