I am
tempted to just say “Don’t take it” and leave it at that. This is one of the
products that simply offers NO benefits whatsoever to the bodybuilder and a
whole host of trouble. But I would be going against my own philosophy of telling
you the facts, to the point and impartially, so you can decide. I personally
really hope you decide to stay away from Nubain.
Nubain is a pain
killer, an opiate, and is taken by bodybuilders, firstly because it was
suggested to be an anti-catabolic. The initial thinking behind this was that
opiate reduces cortisol production, which it doesn’t. Other uses are for better
sleep – crazy – and for harder workouts- crazy. Nubain is also used to relax
some bodybuilders on pre-contest diets, or just in general.
Why is that crazy?
Well I admit that sleeping pills are not a great choice either as for many as
they can make you groggy the next day, whereas opiates do not (although in some
they do) but there are far better and non addictive roads to go down for sleep
enhancement. (See protecting the Machine/combating side effects Chapter) Harder
workouts? Well you can do harder workouts on Nubain because it dulls the
pain, but this can often result in injuries because you simply do not feel
when you are in real trouble.
Now if Nubain gave
all these effects trouble free, or even just a little trouble, then I would be
all for it. Trouble is Nubain is addictive. You become, for want of a better
word, a junkie. The withdrawal symptoms can wreck your life if not handled
properly.
These warnings have
been around for years. I first heard people saying to stay of Nubain over 5
years ago yet the popularity of the drug has soared, especially in the states
and shows little sign of abating. Ketamine pops up in some Nubain counterfeits.
This is not physically addictive but can people can become psychologically
dependant. The side effects of Ketamine range from eye damage, brain damage and
heart attacks. Try coming off the drug and bang- cold turkey. This is unpleasant
stuff and most people find that they cannot come off. Result. You become hooked.
Stories of people paying upwards of £200 a shot and doing all they can to get it
are not uncommon. Just don’t touch it if you value your mental freedom and bank
balance. Stadol, which is stronger than Nubain, is also best avoided.
